Marius Matthee received his National Higher Diploma in Public Health from the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Cape Town, South Africa. He is an active Environmental Health Practitioner with 28 years experience in the public sector and has a special interest in environmental health education.
Marius has been a devoted motorsports administrator for many years and currently serves as the President of Motorsport South Africa’s Environmental Panel. He is also Vice President of FIM Africa and chairperson of their Environmental Commission. Since 2011, he has been a member of the FIM’s International Environmental Commission. Marius has developed and presented several seminars on motorsport and the environment in South Africa and other African countries.
In addition to numerous articles on the subject of the environment, he has authored two books on environmental sustainability in motorsport. Marius has also officiated at many national and international motorsport events as environmental steward.
Marius was a founder member of the Environmental Commission of the South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee’s (SASCOC) and was the recipient of FIM Africa’s annual environmental award in 2012. He is an avid motorsport enthusiast and has contributed to several publications on the history of the sport.
